ARM Financial Group Founded
ARM Financial Group, Inc. was established in Louisville, Kentucky as an insurance holding company.
1995
Acquisition of SBM Life
ARM acquired State Bond & Mortgage Life Insurance Company (SBM Life) based in Minnesota. Morgan Stanley held approximately 90% ownership of ARM Financial Group.
December 1999
Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Filed
ARM Financial Group filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection amid financial difficulties and regulatory challenges.
March 2000
Integrity Life Sold
Integrity Life Insurance Company and National Integrity Life Insurance Company were sold to Western & Southern Financial Group of Cincinnati, Ohio.
2001
Liquidation Complete
ARM Financial Group completed liquidation. SEC registration was revoked. SBM Life policies handled through the Minnesota Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association.

ARM Financial Group, Inc. was a holding company that owned several insurance subsidiaries:

  • Integrity Life Insurance Company (domiciled in Ohio) - Sold to Western & Southern Financial Group in 2000
  • National Integrity Life Insurance Company (domiciled in New York) - Sold to Western & Southern Financial Group in 2000
  • State Bond & Mortgage Life Insurance Company (SBM Life, domiciled in Minnesota) - Placed into rehabilitation/liquidation
  • SPM Life Insurance Company - Affiliate company that underwent similar proceedings

Morgan Stanley was the majority shareholder of ARM Financial Group, owning approximately 90% of the company during its peak operations. Morgan Stanley acquired this stake as part of various investment banking transactions in the 1990s.

Integrity Life / National Integrity Life Policies:

These policies were transferred to Western & Southern Financial Group in March 2000. If you held a policy with either company, contact Western & Southern directly:

State Bond & Mortgage Life (SBM Life) / SPM Life Policies:
